60d1b18734 Assume GC_MARK_STACK == GC_MAKE_GCPROS_NOOPS
This removes the need for GCPRO1 etc.  Suggested by Stefan Monnier in:

2731e821ab Treat error strings as help
* src/print.c (print_error_message): Translate quotes and command
keys in errmsg so that users see, e.g., "Symbol’s value as
variable is void: foo" when text-quoting-style is curved.

467af178f5 Treat batch stdout/stderr like standard display
Calls like (print FOO) could generate improperly encoded or
hard-to-read output if FOO contains characters outside the system
locale.  Fix this by treating batch stdout and stderr like
interactive standard display, when it comes to transliterating and
encoding characters (Bug#20545).

7128b0de89 Omit needless "\ " after multibyte then newline

(print_object): When print-escape-multibyte is non-nil and a
multibyte character is followed by a newline or formfeed, followed
by a hex digit, don't output a needless "\ " before the hex digit.

96bfe816d8 Refactor low-level printing for simplicity
* src/print.c (PRINTDECLARE): Remove.  Move its contents into
PRINTPREPARE; doable now that we assume C99.  All callers changed.

(write_string, write_string_1): Compute length instead of asking
the caller to compute it.  All callers changed.

(Fterpri): Compute default val more clearly.
(Fprin1_to_string, print_object):
Assume C99 to avoid unnecessary nesting.
(print_object): Prefer print_c_string to multiple printchar, or

58f2d6ef32 Compute C decls for DEFSYMs automatically
Fixes Bug#15880.
This patch also makes Q constants (e.g., Qnil) constant addresses
from the C point of view.
* make-docfile.c: Revamp to generate table of symbols, too.
Include <stdbool.h>.
(xstrdup): New function.
(main): Don't process the same file twice.
(SYMBOL): New constant in enum global_type.
(struct symbol): Turn 'value' member into a union, either v.value
for int or v.svalue for string.  All uses changed.
(add_global): New arg svalue, which overrides value, so that globals
can have a string value.
(close_emacs_global): New arg num_symbols; all uses changed.
Output lispsym decl.
(write_globals): Output symbol globals too.  Output more
ATTRIBUTE_CONST, now that Qnil etc. are C constants.
Output defsym_name table.

3517da701e Port better to AddressSanitizer.
These changes suffice for temacs on x86-64 with GCC 4.9.2 and
-fsanitize=address.

Return -1 or 0, as the pipe trick doesn't work.

When a pointer-check primitive returns -1, do not assume this
means the pointer is valid or that the underlying system has failed.
It could just be that addresses are being sanitized so Emacs can't
test for pointer validity.

(USE_STACK_STRING) [GC_CHECK_STRING_BYTES]: Now false, since the
string validity checker doesn't work on stack-based strings.

a9757f6a03 * fileio.c (report_file_errno): Fix errno reporting bug.
If the file name is neither null nor a pair, package it up as a
singleton list.  All callers changed, both to this function and to
report_file_error.  This fixes a bug where the memory allocator
invoked by list1 set errno so that the immediately following
report_file_error reported the wrong errno value.
