bc511a64f6 Prefer HTTPS to FTP and HTTP in documentation
Most of this change is to boilerplate commentary such as license URLs.
This change was prompted by ftp://ftp.gnu.org's going-away party,
planned for November. Change these FTP URLs to https://ftp.gnu.org
instead. Make similar changes for URLs to other organizations moving
away from FTP. Also, change HTTP to HTTPS for URLs to gnu.org and
fsf.org when this works, as this will further help defend against
man-in-the-middle attacks (for this part I omitted the MS-DOS and
MS-Windows sources and the test tarballs to keep the workload down).
HTTPS is not fully working to lists.gnu.org so I left those URLs alone
for now.

7352c6c695 Rework C source files to avoid ^(
Work around Bug#22884 by rewording comments and strings to avoid ‘(’
at the start of a line unless it starts a function. This change
is a short-term hack; in the longer run we plan to fix cc-mode’s
performance for C files that have ‘(’ at the start of a line in a
comment or string.

768b24eb0e On GNU/Linux, use timerfd for asynchronous timers.
* configure.ac (toplevel): Check whether GNU/Linux-specific
timerfd functions and macros are available.
* m4/clock_time.m4 (gl_CLOCK_TIME): Check for clock_getres as well.
* src/atimer.c (toplevel) [HAVE_TIMERFD]: Include sys/timerfd.h.
(toplevel): Rename alarm_timer_ok to special_timer_available.
[HAVE_TIMERFD]: Declare timerfd.
[HAVE_CLOCK_GETRES]: Declare resolution.
(start_atimer) [HAVE_CLOCK_GETRES]: Round up timestamp to
system timer resolution.
(set_alarm) [HAVE_TIMERFD]: Use timerfd_settime.
(timerfd_callback) [HAVE_TIMERFD]: New function.
(atimer_result, debug_timer_callback, Fdebug_timer_check)
[ENABLE_CHECKING]: New function for the sake of automated tests.
(init_atimer) [HAVE_TIMERFD]: Setup timerfd.
[HAVE_CLOCK_GETRES]: Likewise for system timer resolution.
[ENABLE_CHECKING]: Defsubr test function.
* src/atimer.h (timerfd_callback) [HAVE_TIMERFD]: Add prototype.
* src/lisp.h (add_timer_wait_descriptor) [HAVE_TIMERFD]: Likewise.
* src/process.c (add_timer_wait_descriptor) [HAVE_TIMERFD]: New function.
* test/automated/timer-tests.el (timer-tests-debug-timer-check): New test.

96c0686368 Use bool for boolean, focusing on headers.
* configure.ac (PTY_OPEN, GC_MARK_SECONDARY_STACK):
Use bool for boolean.
* lib-src/emacsclient.c, lib-src/etags.c, lib-src/hexl.c (FALSE, TRUE):
Remove. All uses replaced with uncapitalized version.
* lib-src/emacsclient.c (message):
* lib-src/etags.c (make_tag, pfnote, consider_token, make_C_tag, lang_names):
* lib-src/hexl.c (un_flag, iso_flag, endian):
* lib-src/pop.c (pop_debug, pop_open, pop_multi_first, pop_multi_next)

Use bool for boolean.
* lib-src/etags.c (bool): Remove.
* lib-src/etags.c (globals, members, declarations, no_line_directive)
(no_duplicates): Use 'int' for boolean values that getopt requires
to be 'int'. Formerly, these were 'bool' and 'bool' was 'int',
but we can no longer rely on this implementation.

27e498e6e5 New unwind-protect flavors to better type-check C callbacks.
This also lessens the need to write wrappers for callbacks,
and the need for make_save_pointer.
* alloca.c (free_save_value):
* atimer.c (run_all_atimers):
Now extern.
* alloc.c (safe_alloca_unwind):
* atimer.c (unwind_stop_other_atimers):
* keyboard.c (cancel_hourglass_unwind) [HAVE_WINDOW_SYSTEM]:
* menu.c (cleanup_popup_menu) [HAVE_NS]:
* minibuf.c (choose_minibuf_frame_1):
* process.c (make_serial_process_unwind):
* xdisp.h (pop_message_unwind):
* xselect.c (queue_selection_requests_unwind):
Remove no-longer-needed wrapper. All uses replaced by the wrappee.
* alloca.c (record_xmalloc):
Prefer record_unwind_protect_ptr to record_unwind_protect with
make_save_pointer.
* alloca.c (Fgarbage_collect):
Prefer record_unwind_protect_void to passing a dummy.
* buffer.c (restore_buffer):
* window.c (restore_window_configuration):
* xfns.c, w32fns.c (do_unwind_create_frame)
New wrapper. All record-unwind uses of wrappee changed.
* buffer.c (set_buffer_if_live):
* callproc.c (call_process_cleanup, delete_temp_file):
* coding.c (code_conversion_restore):
* dired.c (directory_files_internal_w32_unwind) [WINDOWSNT]:
